- A Logistics Specialist manages the end-to-end supply chain, overseeing the lifecycle of products from procurement to final delivery. They coordinate transportation, optimize inventory, and maintain vital relationships with carriers and clients to ensure that goods arrive securely, cost-effectively, and on schedule.
- Core Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Oversight: Monitor the entire lifecycle of products, ensuring a seamless flow from raw materials to finished goods.
- Transportation & Routing: Plan shipping routes, select the most efficient carriers (air, sea, or land), and track cargo to ensure on-time delivery.
- Inventory Control: Track inventory levels, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain accurate data in systems such as SAP.
- Vendor Management: Build relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor carrier performance to reduce operating costs.
- Compliance & Paperwork: Ensure all import/export and global trade regulations are met while managing bills of lading and customs documentation.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate shipping delays, resolve supply chain bottlenecks, and process customer claims.
- Key Skills and Qualifications
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to forecast logistics trends and optimize processes to cut costs.
- Software Proficiency: Strong grasp of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and ERP software.
- Problem-Solving: Quick thinking to navigate disruptions like inventory shortfalls or transit delays.
- Education & Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
