A plant electrician installs, maintains, and repairs industrial electrical systems—including motors, transformers, and PLC controls—to ensure safe and efficient production. Key duties include troubleshooting electrical malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, interpreting technical blueprints, and complying with safety regulations to minimize downtime.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Performs routine maintenance on motors, control systems, generators, and lightning, while repairing or replacing faulty electrical components.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnoses electrical malfunctions in machinery and power distribution systems using testing devices.
- Installation: Connects power supply wires to new machines, equipment, and panels following schematics and blueprints.
- Safety Compliance: Adheres strictly to electrical codes and safety standards, such as NFPA 70E or OSHA, to prevent hazards.
- System Upgrades: Assists in planning and executing electrical system upgrades for improved plant efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, AC/DC motors, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

- Certification: Typically requires a high school diploma and a Journeyman Electrician license
