Reports To : CSSD Incharge / Nursing Superintendent / Hospital Administrator
Job Summary
The CSSD Executive is responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments, medical devices, and sterile supplies throughout the hospital. The role ensures compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Sterilization & Infection Control
- Receive, clean, disinfect, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Operate and monitor autoclaves, ETO sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, washer disinfectors, and ultrasonic cleaners as applicable.
- Ensure all sterilization cycles are performed according to hospital protocols.
- Conduct routine monitoring using physical, chemical, and biological indicators.
- Maintain sterility and prevent contamination during handling and storage.
Instrument Management
- Assemble and pack surgical instrument sets according to standard checklists.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage.
- Report damaged or missing instruments for repair or replacement.
- Ensure proper labeling and traceability of all sterilized packs.
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological tests, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
- Monitor stock levels of sterile supplies, consumables, and packaging materials.
- Coordinate with OT, wards, ICUs, and other departments for timely supply of sterile items.
- Ensure proper documentation as per NABH and statutory requirements.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance of CSSD equipment.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately to the Maintenance Department.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance as per the equipment schedule.
Quality & Safety
- Follow infection control policies and standard precautions at all times.
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, biomedical waste management rules, and hospital safety policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, internal audits, and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in CSSD Technology / Operation Theatre Technology / Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
- Certification in CSSD (preferred).
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a hospital CSSD.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with autoclaves, ETO, plasma sterilizers, and washer disinfectors.
- Understanding of surgical instruments and instrument sets.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per hospital requirements.
- Work involves prolonged standing, lifting instrument trays, and handling sterilization equipment.
- Mandatory use of PPE while performing duties.

Pay: ₹10,090.64 - ₹15,475.32 per month
