1. Role purpose
The Floor Supervisor is responsible for supervising day-to-day workshop floor operations, ensuring smooth workflow, proper job allocation, quality repair work, and timely delivery of vehicles. The role focuses on coordinating technicians, monitoring productivity, and ensuring compliance to SML service standards.
2. Key responsibilities
Workshop Floor Management
· Supervise and monitor all repair, service, and maintenance activities on the workshop floor.
· Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill level, workload, and bay availability.
· Ensure best utilization of bays, tools, and manpower.
· Check that vehicles are repaired correctly, following SML guidelines.
Workshop Floor Management
· Inspect jobs at different stages to ensure first-time-right repairs.
· Minimize repeat jobs, comebacks, and ensure zero defect delivery.
· Track productivity of each technician and overall workshop efficiency.
· Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and ensure on-time vehicle delivery.
Team Coordination & Support
· Coordinate between Service Advisors, Technicians, Spare Parts and Works Manager.
· Guide technicians in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
· Support training and skill development of workshop staff.
· Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and safety on the shop floor.
Customer Service Support
· Support Service Advisors in technical clarifications to customers.
· Assist in addressing customer concerns related to repair quality.
· Ensure vehicles are delivered in clean, working condition with all jobs completed.
Compliance & Reporting
· Ensure compliance to SML service standards and safety guidelines.
· Maintain job cards, repair orders, and workshop floor records correctly.
· Report daily floor performance, bay utilization, and productivity to Works Manager.
Key Skills & Competencies:
· Strong technical knowledge of SML commercial vehicles.
· Good supervisory and team management skills.
· Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
· Knowledge of workshop equipment, problem-solving tools, and service processes.
· Strong communication and coordination skills.
Qualification & Experience:
· Diploma / ITI / B.E. / B.Tech in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
· Minimum 3–7 years of experience in commercial vehicle workshop operations.
· At least 2 years in a supervisory role in an authorized OEM workshop preferred.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
