DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION – MANAGER SUPPLY CHAIN
Purpose & Objective
To lead the end-to-end Supply Chain function including Planning, Procurement Coordination, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Dispatch, Logistics, Vehicle Management and Distribution. The role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability, optimized inventory, cost-effective logistics, timely customer deliveries, statutory compliance and continuous improvement across the supply chain network.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
Supply Chain Planning & Inventory Management
- Develop supply chain strategies aligned with business growth plans.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels of Raw Materials, Packaging Materials, Consumables and Finished Goods.
- Monitor stock ageing, slow-moving, non-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Implement inventory optimization initiatives and improve inventory turns.
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO compliance across all storage locations.
- Conduct monthly inventory reviews and stock reconciliation.
Material Planning & Procurement Coordination
- Coordinate with Procurement and Production Planning teams for material availability.
- Review MRP and forecast requirements.
- Monitor supplier delivery schedules and identify supply risks.
- Drive reduction in material shortages and emergency purchases.
- Support vendor development and service-level improvement initiatives.
Stores Management
- Manage receipt, storage, preservation and issue of materials.
- Ensure proper material identification, traceability and segregation.
- Maintain ERP inventory accuracy and stock records.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage utilization and material movement.
- Ensure GMP, HACCP, FSSAI and food safety compliance.
Dispatch & Distribution Management
- Plan daily dispatch schedules in line with sales and customer requirements.
- Ensure timely dispatch of finished goods with complete documentation.
- Coordinate with Sales, Production and Logistics teams to achieve OTIF (On-Time In-Full) deliveries.
- Monitor dispatch turnaround times and loading efficiencies.
- Ensure product traceability and batch-wise dispatch controls.
- Minimize dispatch delays, transit losses and customer complaints.
Fleet & Vehicle Management
- Manage company-owned and outsourced transportation resources.
- Plan vehicle deployment based on dispatch priorities and route optimization.
- Monitor vehicle utilization, fuel efficiency and transportation costs.
- Ensure statutory compliance of vehicles including permits, insurance, fitness certificates and pollution certificates.
- Track vehicle availability, maintenance schedules and breakdown management.
- Develop transporter relationships and performance scorecards.
- Improve fleet productivity and reduce logistics costs.
Logistics & Customer Service Management
- Ensure timely movement of goods from plant to distributors/customers.
- Monitor freight costs and transportation performance.
- Resolve logistics issues affecting customer service.
- Review logistics KPIs and implement improvement initiatives.
- Ensure high service levels and customer satisfaction.
Compliance, Quality & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with food safety, statutory and audit requirements.
- Support product recall, traceability and risk management exercises.
- Establish controls to prevent inventory losses and damages.
- Drive safety initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead stores, dispatch and logistics teams.
- Develop team capabilities through ongoing trainings & skills upgradation.
- Establish KPIs and accountability measures.
- Promote a culture of ownership, safety and continuous improvement.

Qualification & Experience• Graduate in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Commerce or related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations or Materials Management preferred.
- 12–15+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Warehousing, Dispatch, Logistics or Operations.
- Experience in Food Processing, FMCG or Manufacturing Industry is essential.
- Hands-on experience in ERP-driven inventory and logistics management environments preferred.
