We are seeking a Benchling ELN Developer with hands-on Benchling ELN expertise to drive system integrations, automation, and data lifecycle solutions supporting GxP-regulated pharmaceutical R&D operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain integrations between Benchling ELN and pharma lab systems including LIMS, instruments, and data platforms.
Implement automation workflows using the Benchling REST API, SDK, webhooks, and Apps Framework under GxP guidelines.
Configure and maintain entity schemas, assay schemas, and notebook templates to support scientific workflows.
Build ETL pipelines to transfer and transform Benchling data to/from downstream analytics platforms.
Support 21 CFR Part 11 compliance by documenting development work and contributing to system validation activities.
Collaborate with scientists and QA teams to gather requirements and deliver reliable, audit-ready solutions.
Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and adherence to team development standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years working directly on Benchling ELN in pharma or life sciences.
Proficient in Python and experienced with the Benchling SDK and REST API.
Working knowledge of Benchling entities, registries, assay results, and notebook configurations.
Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements and GxP-regulated software development practices.
Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
Strong collaboration skills and ability to translate scientific needs into technical specifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience integrating Benchling with LIMS or other lab informatics platforms.
Exposure to data pipeline tooling (Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or similar).
Understanding of pharmaceutical R&D workflows: sample registration, assay execution, and study management.
Benchling app development or administrator experience.
Knowledge of FAIR data principles and scientific data governance in pharma.
