Job Summary
The Safety Engineer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices at construction sites. The role ensures compliance with statutory regulations, company safety policies, and client requirements to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safety standards at the project site.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers and staff.
- Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness training for employees and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare and maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident reports, and statutory documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety laws, client requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate emergency response drills, first aid arrangements, and fire safety measures.
- Monitor work permits for high-risk activities such as work at height, hot work, lifting operations, excavation, and confined space entry.
- Coordinate with project teams, clients, consultants, and government authorities on safety-related matters.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project site.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent will be preferred.
Experience
- 2–6 years of experience as a Safety Engineer in construction, infrastructure, bridge, highway, or building projects.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and HSE practices.
- Good understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
- Ability to prepare safety documentation and reports.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to conduct safety training and enforce safety compliance.
Preferred Knowledge
- Indian safety regulations, Labour Laws, IS Standards, and project-specific HSE requirements.
- Experience in bridge, highway, and infrastructure construction projects.
- Knowledge of emergency response planning and safety audit procedures.
Working Conditions
