Position Summary:
We are seeking a Data Engineer / Python Developer with strong expertise in writing production-grade Python scripts and building ETL and data migration pipelines. The role requires advanced SQL Server knowledge, including complex querying, validation, and data analysis across heterogeneous data sources. Candidates should be skilled in data transformation, cleansing, schema design, and normalization. Experience with AWS RDS, Git, and CI/CD pipelines is essential. A solid understanding of data privacy, compliance, and secure data handling is required.
Your Role Responsibilities and Duties:
- Analyze existing database schemas across different source applications
- Design and implement Python- migration scripts to move data into the new database structure
- Map data fields between legacy systems and the new schema, handling inconsistencies and edge cases
- Work with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to clarify data rules and assumptions
- Document data mappings, transformation logic, and migration steps
- Perform data normalization, deduplication, and cleanup as part of the migration process
- Provide reconciliation reports for stakeholder confirmation and sign-off
- Generate pre- and post-migration reports to validate data completeness and accuracy
- Identify data quality issues and propose remediation strategies
- Ensure data integrity, referential consistency, and transactional safety
- Support incremental or staged migrations if required
- Optimize migration scripts for performance and reliability
- Assist with testing, rollback planning, and post-migration support
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in - Python, including writing production-grade scripts
- Experience with data migration and ETL processes
- Solid understanding of relational databases - SQL Server
- Experience working with multiple heterogeneous data sources
- Familiarity with data transformation, cleansing, and validation techniques
- Knowledge of database schema design and normalization principles
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, validation, and data analysis
- Knowledge of cloud databases (AWS RDS)
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of data privacy, compliance, and secure data handling
