Job Title: SP3D Piping Modeller Department:
Job Purpose:
The SP3D Piping Modeller is responsible for developing, maintaining, and coordinating 3D piping models and associated drawings to support accurate, integrated, and constructible piping designs. The role supports piping engineering activities during proposal, FEED, and detailed engineering phases within an engineering consultancy environment, ensuring models reflect approved design intent, standards, and multidisciplinary inputs.
Key Result Areas:
SP3D Piping Modelling
· Develop and update S3D piping models in accordance with approved P&IDs, piping layouts, design basis, and project specifications.
· Model piping systems considering routing, clearances, accessibility, maintainability, slopes and safety requirements.
· Implement piping material specifications, line classes, and modelling standards as defined by the piping engineering team.
· Incorporate stress, supports, and equipment interface requirements into the 3D model under engineering guidance.
Drawings & Model-Based Deliverables
· Generate piping drawings and model-based deliverables such as isometrics, GA drawings, and extraction data as required by the project.
· Support preparation of material take-offs and drawing registers from the 3D model, as assigned.
· Update models and drawings to reflect design changes, review comments, and approved revisions.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
· Coordinate 3D model interfaces with civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and other disciplines to support integrated design development.
· Participate in model reviews and coordination meetings, addressing comments and clash resolutions under the guidance of piping engineers.
· Support timely resolution of model-related issues to meet project schedules.
Engineering Quality Compliance
· Ensure 3D models and drawings comply with project modelling standards, CAD procedures, and consultancy quality requirements.
· Perform self-checks and support internal checking processes prior to issue of deliverables.
· Maintain organized model data and drawing files in accordance with document control procedures.

· The role operates within the piping discipline of an engineering consultancy, supporting 3D modelling and drafting activities during proposal, FEED, and detailed engineering phases.
· Responsibilities are limited to 3D modelling, drafting, coordination, and support activities within the approved engineering scope.

Communications and Working Relationships
· Works collaboratively with piping engineers, stress engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to support accurate and coordinated 3D models.
· Communicates model-related information clearly through drawings, model reviews, and coordination discussions with internal stakeholders.
· Escalates model-related technical or coordination issues to senior modelers or piping engineers as required.

Framework Boundaries, Decision-Making Authority, and Responsibility
· Operates within the consultancy’s engineering framework, project scope, and applicable codes and standards.
· Makes engineering decisions related to assigned piping design tasks under the guidance and review of senior or lead engineers.
· Responsible for the technical accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of assigned piping engineering deliverables.
· Escalates technical issues, risks, or deviations to senior or lead engineers as required.
VII
Knowledge Skills and Experience
· Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
· 5–8 years experience as a 3D piping modeller in greenfield, brownfield including revamp and shutdown projects in oil, gas, petrochemical or industrial sector.
· Experience in 3D piping modeling using SP3D and AVEVA E3D and Navisworks proficiency
· Understanding of piping layouts, P&IDs, line classes, and basic piping design concepts.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and follow established modelling standards and procedures.
· Professional-level English communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal form.
· Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
· Attention to detail, accountability for technical quality, and adherence to project schedules.
