Job Title: Mechanical Production Engineer
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Production Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and optimizing production activities in the steel plant to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. The role focuses on maximizing productivity, maintaining equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring that production targets and quality standards are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities in the steel plant.
- Monitor steel manufacturing processes, including melting, casting, rolling, and finishing operations, to ensure efficient production.
- Optimize machine utilization and improve production efficiency while reducing waste and operating costs.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely preventive and breakdown maintenance of production equipment.
- Monitor production parameters and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve plant performance.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Manage manpower allocation, shift operations, and production scheduling to achieve daily and monthly production targets.
- Prepare production reports, equipment performance reports, and key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of production machinery and equipment.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other productivity improvement tools.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–8 years of experience in production operations within a steel manufacturing plant.
- Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, including melting, casting, rolling, and material handling systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and heavy industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of production planning, preventive maintenance, and process optimization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as SAP is an advantage.
