Key Responsibilities1. Emergency Patient Care
- Ensure rapid assessment, triage, and prioritization of patients.
- Coordinate emergency nursing interventions and treatment plans.
- Monitor critically ill and injured patients and respond to emergencies.
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures and resuscitations.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
2. Staff Supervision and Leadership
- Supervise emergency nurses, nursing assistants, and support staff.
- Assign duties and prepare shift schedules.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and clinical support to staff.
- Evaluate staff performance and identify training needs.
- Ensure adherence to emergency department protocols.
3. Department Operations
- Monitor patient flow and bed availability.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels during shifts.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Maintain availability of emergency medications, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure crash carts and emergency equipment are functional and ready for use.
4. Quality and Patient Safety
- Implement infection prevention and control measures.
- Monitor compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
- Report and investigate incidents, medication errors, and adverse events.
- Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
5. Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate with physicians, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care and treatment.
- Manage complaints and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Conduct shift handovers to ensure continuity of care.
