Job Overview
Quantum Pulse Technologies is seeking a versatile Networking & IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our development and operations team at the SECE Innovation Hub, Coimbatore. In this multi-faceted role, you will bridge hardware network device engineering, enterprise network infrastructure management, and network-aware application development.
You will design and test custom network hardware/devices at the protocol level, manage enterprise and edge network infrastructure, and build network software solutions (such as socket programs, network microservices, and management tools). Working out of our innovation hub, you will collaborate closely with hardware, embedded software, and systems engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Device & Protocol Design:
- Design, configure, and evaluate network hardware components and device firmware.
- Analyze, implement, and optimize custom and standard networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, L2/L3 routing, MQTT, CoAP, SNMP).
- Perform packet-level analysis, protocol debugging, and performance profiling using tools like Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Network Infrastructure Management:
- Deploy, manage, and maintain enterprise and campus network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, WLAN, VPNs, and VLANs).
- Implement network monitoring, fault detection, and automated alert systems to maintain high uptime and low latency.
- Enforce network security policies, access control lists (ACLs), zero-trust architecture, and VPN tunnels.
- Application Development with Networking Focus:
- Develop network-centric applications, utilities, and middleware using C, C++, Python, or Go.
- Implement socket programming, network API integrations (REST/gRPC), and automated network orchestration scripts.
- Collaborate with embedded and IoT engineers to build firmware-to-cloud communication software pipelines.
- Troubleshooting & Documentation:
- Diagnose complex network protocol anomalies, routing issues, and hardware bottlenecks.
- Maintain comprehensive network architecture diagrams, topology specifications, and deployment documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills:
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in network device testing/design, network administration, or network software development.
- Networking Protocols: Deep understanding of TCP/IP stack, OSI model, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, NAT, DNS, DHCP, IPv4/IPv6, and TLS/SSL.
- Network Device Design: Experience working with router/switch hardware architectures, network interfaces, and network chipsets/drivers.
- Network Infra Management: Hands-on experience configuring Cisco, Juniper, Mikrotik, or OpenWrt devices, along with firewalls and Wireless Access Controllers.
- Programming & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python, C*, or C++* with experience in socket programming, network automation (Ansible/Paramiko), and REST APIs.
- Traffic & Packet Analysis: Mastery of Wireshark, tcpdump, iPerf, and network simulation tools (e.g., GNS3, Cisco Packet Tracer).
- OS & Environment: Linux system administration (RedHat/Ubuntu), network stack tuning, and shell scripting (Bash).
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and systematic problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong technical communication skills to translate network topology requirements to software and hardware teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative innovation lab environment.
- Architected internal project requirements and facilitated high-impact training programs to upskill enthusiastic internal talent
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
- Networking Certifications: CCNP (Enterprise or Service Provider), CCNA, or CompTIA Network+ / Security+.
- Experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN), OpenFlow, or Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
- Exposure to cloud networking platforms (AWS VPC, Azure VNets) and edge compute networking.
