Job Summary
Responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC/VMC machines to produce quality components as per engineering drawings and production schedules. Ensure machine efficiency, product quality, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC/VMC machines as per job cards and engineering drawings.
- Install tools, fixtures, clamps, and workpieces.
- Set tool offsets, work coordinates, and verify machine programs.
- Perform first-piece inspection before production.
- Operate machines to achieve daily production targets.
- Monitor machining operations and make necessary offset corrections.
- Inspect components using Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and fixture issues to minimize downtime.
- Carry out routine machine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain production records and inspection reports.
- Follow 5S, safety, and quality management systems.
Required Skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings and process sheets.
- Hands-on experience in CNC/VMC machine setting and operation.
- Knowledge of Fanuc/Siemens/Mitsubishi controls is preferred.
- Good understanding of cutting tools, machining parameters, and GD&T.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Qualification
- ITI (Machinist/Turner) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience as a CNC/VMC Setter cum Operator in a precision machining or automotive manufacturing environment.
