Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to lead and execute safety lifecycle activities across ECU software, hardware, and system domains. In this role, you will take ownership of Safety Concepts (FSC/TSC), perform safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA), and ensure end-to-end compliance with ISO 26262 standards across ASIL B through ASIL D systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Functional Safety Management (Part 2): Create and maintain the Safety Plan, Safety Case, and Safety Manual. Manage Development Interface Agreements (DIAs) with OEMs, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Concept & System Safety (Parts 3 & 4): Lead the end-to-end development of Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC). Derive safety requirements and map them to system and software architectures.
- Safety Analysis (Parts 3, 4 & 5): Conduct qualitative and quantitative safety analyses, including FMEA, FTA, FMEDA (for hardware metrics), and Dependent Failures Analysis (DFA) to ensure systematic freedom from interference.
- Software Safety (Part 6): Ensure software safety development processes adhere to ISO 26262 Part 6. Review software architecture, enforce coding standards (e.g., MISRA), and support safety mechanism implementation (e.g., watchdog routines, memory protection).
- Verification & Validation (V&V): Define safety test strategies, derive safety test cases, and participate in fault injection testing, HIL testing, and system-level verification.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Core Expertise: 4+ years of hands-on experience in ISO 26262 implementation across automotive embedded systems.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Solid command of safety analysis tools (e.g., Medini Analyze, APIS IQ-FMEA, Ansys Sherlock, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with requirement management tools (IBM DOORS, Jama).
- Deep understanding of automotive software architectures (AUTOSAR preferred) and embedded C programming safety principles.
- Certifications: ISO 26262 Functional Safety Professional (FSP) or Certified Engineer (AFSP/CFSP) is highly desirable.
Preferred Attributes
- Strong communication skills for interacting with OEM safety managers and cross-functional engineering teams in Gurgaon/Chennai.
- Proven experience delivering ISO 26262 safety cases for production automotive ECUs (e.g., ADAS, Powertrain, BMS, Body Control).
Pay: ₹2,000,000.00 - ₹2,200,000.00 per year
