Job Summary
As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality dishes and baked items while maintaining hygiene and safety standards. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, grow, and build a strong foundation in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to recipes and standards
Support senior chefs (Chef de Partie, Sous Chef) in daily kitchen operations
Prepare ingredients (washing, chopping, measuring, portioning)
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations
Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently followed
Help in receiving, storing, and rotating stock properly (FIFO method)
Assist in bakery production (e.g., bread, pastries, desserts) when required
Follow instructions efficiently and work collaboratively with the kitchen team
Minimize food waste and handle ingredients with care
Participate in kitchen cleaning and closing duties
Requirements
Basic culinary training or diploma (preferred but not mandatory)
Previous kitchen or bakery experience is a plus
Knowledge of basic cooking and food preparation techniques
Willingness to learn and take direction
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
