OVERVIEW
The Digital and Technology team of General Mills India Centre is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the Global Digital Transformation initiative at General Mills in capacity of a Senior Intelligent Automation Engineer. This role will report into the Manager, Intelligent Automation (India) and functionally collaborate with our Global Intelligent Automation Team. In this technical role, the Senior Intelligent Automation Engineer will act as a Technical Lead, owning the end-to-end delivery of automation programs through Azure DevOps while providing technical direction for solutions built on enterprise IA platforms such as Automation Anywhere A360 and ServiceNow App Engine, including emerging agentic AI capabilities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Digital & Technology team at General Mills is seeking a Senior Intelligent Automation Engineer to act as a Technical Lead within the Intelligent Automation team. This is an individual contributor role that owns the end-to-end delivery of automation programs, backed by enough technical depth in Intelligent Automation to lead the solutions credibly, and would typically have the following key accountabilities:
Delivery Ownership (core focus):
-
Own end-to-end delivery of the automation programs assigned to this role, from planning to production handover.
-
Run and manage Azure DevOps for owned delivery, including boards, workflows, and activity tracking.
-
Plan, track, and report delivery across the owned portfolio, covering scope, timelines, resources, risks, and dependencies.
-
Manage scope and change through the appropriate change control.
-
Work within the Azure DevOps standards and cadence owned by the team's delivery governance lead, and hold owned delivery to them.
-
Coordinate across globally distributed teams to deliver on time and within budget.
Technical Leadership (core focus):
-
Provide technical direction for the automation solutions delivered by this role and make the key technical decisions on them.
-
Reason about agentic solution design and delivery risk as the team scales in this area, and guide design choices accordingly.
-
Review solution quality on owned programs and uphold the engineering standards set for the team.
-
Mentor and coach automation engineers on the delivery and technical quality of their work.
-
Evaluate emerging Intelligent Automation and agentic technologies and recommend where to adopt them.
Solution Delivery and Support (hands-on as required):
-
Guide automation solutions end to end, from process analysis through production.
-
Build prototypes and proofs of concept to de-risk design decisions early.
-
Design integrations between automation platforms and enterprise systems such as SAP, CRM, web portals, and cloud and on-premise applications.
-
Step into L2 / L3 support for automation solutions when issues escalate or the situation requires it, and lead resolution of complex or critical production incidents.
-
Contribute to or review code on critical, complex, or high-risk components.
Collaboration:
-
Partner with the D&T IA Manager who owns Azure DevOps standards and adherence across the team.
-
Partner with AI Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and UX specialists rather than duplicating their scope.
-
Work with business SMEs to translate process needs into technical designs and solutions.
-
Align with platform, data, and security teams to deliver compliant, supportable solutions.
-
Coordinate priorities and progress with global stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
-
Re-engineer and improve existing automations for performance, reliability, and reusability.
-
Build and maintain a library of reusable components and design patterns.
-
Contribute to the Intelligent Automation operating model, standards, and best practices
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum Degree Requirements: Bachelors (Full time from accredited institution)
Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience required in Python, Agentic/AI Automation, Automation Anywhere/ServiceNow Development, LangChain/RAG/MCP, RPA
Technical Skills:
-
Proven experience owning delivery of technical automation programs end to end, covering planning, tracking, risk, dependencies, and stakeholder management. Generic project management without hands-on technical delivery is not a substitute.
-
Strong, practical command of Azure DevOps for running and tracking delivery, including boards, workflows, and activity tracking.
-
A solid technical background in Intelligent Automation, with hands-on experience in at least one enterprise automation platform such as Automation Anywhere A360 or ServiceNow App Engine. Depth in both is not required.
-
A working understanding of agentic AI, able to reason independently about agentic solution design and delivery risk as the team scales in this area. Building the underlying AI models or framework internals is not expected.
-
Solid programming ability in Python and comfort with at least one scripting language such as JavaScript or C#.
-
API and enterprise integration experience, including REST, SOAP, and webhooks, across systems such as SAP, CRM, cloud, and on-premise applications.
-
Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and of cloud environments and data flows.
-
Ability to provide technical direction on automation solutions, review solution quality, and mentor engineers on the work they deliver.
-
Ability to evaluate emerging Intelligent Automation technologies and make sound adopt, build, or buy recommendations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred:
-
Hands-on experience across more than one automation platform, for example both Automation Anywhere and ServiceNow.
-
Practical experience designing agentic solutions with frameworks or patterns such as LangChain, RAG, or MCP.
-
Experience with intelligent OCR or document processing.
-
Experience integrating Microsoft 365 or Power Platform.
-
DevOps tooling and CI/CD familiarity.
Nice to have:
-
Process or task mining experience.
-
SAP functional or integration exposure.
-
Familiarity with a JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue for occasional interface work.
-
SharePoint or Power Apps development.
-
Exposure to conversational and agent UX patterns, enough to collaborate well with UX specialists rather than to own design.
