Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Production Manager to lead daily operations across Solid Wood, Prelam (pre-laminated board) and Metal manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience operating joinery and metal fabrication ,machinery, managing multi- disciplinary teams, and delivering consistent quality while meeting production targets, cost and safety objectives.
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in furniture manufacturing
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management :
- Plan, schedule, and oversee daily production across solid wood, prelam and metal departments to achieve monthly targets and delivery timelines.
- Balance workloads between departments, prioritize jobs, and allocate resources to maximize throughput and minimize lead time.
- Coordinate closely with design, planning, and project teams to ensure accurate interpretation of drawings, BOMs and production sequences.
- Monitor material consumption (timber, prelam panels, metal sections, consumables) and work with procurement to avoid stockouts and optimize inventory levels.
Machinery & Process Operation :
- Ensure correct setup, operation and preventive maintenance of joinery machiner (saws, moulders, tenoners, sanders, CNC routers) and metal fabrication equipment .
- Supervise CNC programming and operation for both wood and metal processes, optimize, nesting/CNC programs for material yield.
- Train and certify operators in machine operation, tooling, fixtures, and safe work practices.
- Troubleshoot production and machine issues; coordinate repairs with maintenance and external service vendors.
- Maintain adequate spares, tools and consumables for uninterrupted production.
Quality Control & Continuous Improvement :
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures for incoming materials, in-process inspection, and finished products across wood, prelam and metal scopes.
- Inspect work-in-progress and finished components; identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
- Work with QA to update inspection checklists, dimensional standards and surface finish Specifications.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rework, scrap and process variability (5S,Kaizen, Lean practices).
Costing, Reporting & Documentation :
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on daily output, machine utilization, labor productivity, material usage and rejects.
- Analyze production data and KPIs/OKRs to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective plans.
- Assist plant manager with production budgeting, cost control, and BOM/costing preparation for new products and orders.
- Maintain accurate production documentation, work orders, job cards and equipment maintenance logs.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping :
- Enforce safety standards, PPE use, welding and fire safety protocols, and ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Maintain 5S standards and organized shop floor practices to improve safety and efficiency.
- Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks and training for shop-floor staff.
People Management :
- Supervise and mentor supervisors, operators and technicians across wood, Prelam and metal teams.
- Conduct performance reviews, set targets, and manage manpower planning and shift schedules.
- Drive a culture of accountability, cross-training and multi-skilled workforce.
Qualifications & Skills :
- Diploma or degree in Joinery/Woodworking, Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in furniture or component manufacturing involving solid wood, Prelam and/or metal; at least 3 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
- Strong practical knowledge of solid wood selection, seasoning considerations, joinery techniques, Prelam panel handling, edge banding, and metal fabrication processes.
- Proven experience with joinery and metal machinery, CNC programming and operation for both wood and metal workflows.
- Familiarity with BOM preparation, standard costing, yield optimization and material utilization.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work with design, quality and procurement teams.
- Experience implementing 5S, Lean manufacturing or similar process-improvement methodologies.
Preferred : ( Not Mandatory )
- Candidates from Jaipur, Jodhpur or other solid wood manufacturing hubs with willingness to relocate to Sohna.
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,100,000.00 per year
