Job Description: Business Development Director
We are seeking a highly strategic, result-oriented, and seasoned Business Development Director to drive the growth, project acquisition, and strategic expansion of our organization's portfolio. This specialized leadership role demands an exceptional expert who can seamlessly navigate the intersection of government relations, corporate social responsibility (CSR), large-scale fundraising, and project design.
The ideal candidate must possess an elite track record in government liaisoning, advanced bid management, and the end-to-end conceptualization and structuring of high-impact socio-economic and skill development initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
· Identify New Business Opportunities: Conduct extensive market analysis to monitor changing government policies, funding allocations, upcoming public schemes, and emerging competitive trends to identify and target high-value project pipelines.
· New Project Approach & Design: Lead the end-to-end strategic design, conceptualization, and structural formatting of new project proposals, establishing innovative approaches that perfectly align organizational capabilities with public and private sector needs.
· Liaison & Government Relations: Act as the primary high-level interface with key ministries, public sector undertakings (PSUs), state cooperative federations, and state nodal agencies to secure new project approvals and build long-term institutional partnerships.
· Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Cultivate and nurture strategic relationships with corporate donors, foundations, and public sector consultants to position the organization as a preferred partner for executing large-scale impact projects under CSR mandates.
· Fund Raising: Strategically pitch to, negotiate with, and secure funding streams from multi-sectoral coalitions, external partners, and institutional grants to aggressively scale organizational revenue.
· End-to-End Bid Management: Take absolute ownership of the entire bidding lifecycle—including initial tender identification (RFP/RFQ/EOI), strategic pre-bid query formulation, risk tracking, technical/commercial proposal submission, and final contract negotiation.
· Procurement & GeM Operations: Oversee all transactions and compliance parameters on government e-procurement platforms, specifically managing brand registration, catalog creation, OEM authorizations, authorized reseller management, and compliance on the GeM Portal.
· Stakeholder Engagement & Revenue Growth: Establish a robust pipeline of high-level government and corporate decision-makers, driving proactive issue resolution to improve contract delivery timelines and optimize payment/collection follow-ups.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal execution, procurement, accounts, and legal teams to guarantee that newly acquired projects smoothly transition into successful ground-level operation.
Skills and Qualifications
· Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of proven experience in high-value B2G (Business-to-Government) sales, public procurement, fundraising, or strategic corporate business development.
· Heavy Implementation & Deal-Closing: A demonstrable track record of successfully securing large-scale government contracts (such as with ministries, PSUs, or defense sectors), closing multi-crore project acquisitions, or executing consortium bids.
· Technical Bid Proficiency: Expert hands-on knowledge of various public procurement portals (including GeM, CPPP, and state-specific e-procurement systems) alongside a deep understanding of processing EMDs, bank guarantees, security deposits, and price finalization protocols.
· Elite Communication & Public Relations: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in both Hindi and English. Must possess absolute confidence when delivering presentations or leading high-stakes negotiations with top-tier government dignitaries, corporate boards, and community leaders.
· Strategic Project Design & Risk Management: Exceptional capability in drafting comprehensive project reports, tracking budget sheets, managing vendor compliance, and establishing winning bid strategies while effectively managing risk throughout the project lifecycle.
