Thinkproject is looking for a skilled BI & Data Engineer to support the continual support and development of Data ecosystem. You’ll be helping Thinkproject business units to bring together disparate data sets, building core models to support critical initiatives and decision making.
This is a hands-on, specialist role, perfect for someone who enjoys a cross-functional role, is fluent in English and has a solid grasp of data architecture, governance, and best practices. Confident in working independently in a geographically diverse team environment.
Main responsibilities
Data Engineering: Design, develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple enterprise systems. Support and optimise data warehouse and data lakes. Develop and maintain data models to support required reporting and analysis, with a self-service methodology. Ensuring data quality, integrity and governance is built in as a standard.
Support & Continuous Improvement: Proactively monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, ensuring reliability and performance. Manage incidents, problem and request tickets in line with priority, ensuing SLAs (Service Level Agreement) are met. Create consistent and accurate documentation and knowledge articles to enhance the ongoing support of the data environment. Working alongside the business data owners for decision making. Actively engage in the Change management process to delivery high quality change to the data environment, with clear service dependency understanding.
Automation: Implement automation and best practise for data ingestion, transformation, validation and deployment. Utilise agentic AI solutions to enhance data services and resilience.
Business Intelligence & Analytics: Develop and maintain Power BI Dashboards, reports and models. Collaborate with business units to translate there requirements into scalable reporting products, working in a consistent intake process. Advise on KPI definitions and metric standardisation, and visualisation best practises.
Collaboration: Partner with business units included by not limited to Sales, Finance teams to fully understand their analytical needs and challenges. Work cross-functionally across the IT teams to build secure end to end capabilities, and with Data protection/compliance colleagues to maintain data security. Utilise partnership with 3rd vendors to enhance solutions or solve complex issues.
Data Governance & Quality: Support enterprise data governance initiatives and compliance requirements. Contribute to the maintenance of data dictionaries, metadata, and technical documentation. Create and delivery methodologies for data validation and reconciliation activities.
Risk & Audit: Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT solutions, including security vulnerabilities, compliance issues, and operational challenges. Develop strategies to address these risks and ensure the resilience of IT systems. Support the execution of regular audit processes and submissions when required.
What you need to fulfill the role
Experience (technical / leadership)
Proven experience in data engineering and business intelligence technologies within a enterprise organisation.
Functional expertise or method expertise
Technical Skills
Hands-on experience with Power BI etc.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps.
Strong SQL and Python skills.
Expertise in working with cloud data platforms, Azure.
Understanding of CI/CD practises for data and analytics solutions.
Expertise in standardised ITIL based support practises.
This is a hands-on role expected to design, implement, and maintain data pipelines and reporting outputs, end to end.
Familiarity with Data engineering Agentic solutions and their adoption.
Languages: Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management and business analysis skills. Ability to make relationships as a trusted partner.
Certifications: Certifications in data warehousing and visualisation tooling.
Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities. With the ability to articulate the problem and solutions in clearly to any audience.
