Position Description:
The Recruitment Officer manages the full cycle recruitment of seafarers to attract competent, qualified candidates to join our company. This position works closely with other recruitment team members, hiring managers, and regional crewing offices
Job Responsibilities:
- Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy (PL-005), and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines.
- Conducts full-cycle recruiting of seafarers and cadets including interviews, selection, reference checks, predictive index analysis, marlins test, offers, negotiation, closing, and administrative components of the process in line with the company guidelines and compensation policies
- Assists in campus recruiting programs to attract the next generation of hires
- Assists in organizing road shows, trade fairs, and university recruiting programs and manages the print material, banners etc. as required
- Develops and executes sourcing plans from traditional and nontraditional sources. Networks through industry contacts, associations, trade groups, job portals and employee referrals to identify and source active and passive candidates
- Manages, monitors, and measures the performance of all candidates, and institutes managing the trade tests, Manning Partners and maintains good working relationships. Supports strategic measures to improve overall performance of the team and manning partners, institutes. Retention calls to employees.
- Leverages online recruiting resources including our applicant tracking system and social media to identify and recruit the very best candidates. Stays informed of trends and innovative recruiting techniques in order to be competitive in latest recruiting practices.
- Prepares management reports on recruiting activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, or related discipline required.
- Minimum three to five years’ experience in recruiting preferably in the Marine industry
- Knowledge and extensive past use of a server based applicant tracking system
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word,PowerPoint and Excel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good writing style
- Experience in “new wave” sourcing including knowledge of social media networks, Twitter, Linked In, Facebook etc.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in behavior based interviewing techniques and related assessment tools
- Creative ability in sourcing candidates and marketing experience
- Experience in analyzing and developing recruiting processes including best practices and metrics
- Experience making effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to public groups, recruitment fairs, and university
Campuses. Strong facilitation skills and ability to present to a wide array of audiences
Job Demands and/or Physical Requirements:
- Regular travel to local metros as required on short notice
- Will be required to carry a Blackberry and check regularly outside of office hours
