Role Objective
The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for improving production efficiency, optimizing workflow, balancing assembly lines, and implementing systems to increase productivity while maintaining quality standards across the factory.
The role focuses on analyzing production processes and identifying opportunities to improve output, labor productivity, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities1. Line Balancing & Production Efficiency
- Study assembly lines and perform line balancing to improve productivity.
- Optimize worker allocation across operations.
- Ensure smooth workflow and minimize bottlenecks in production lines.
- Monitor line efficiency and suggest improvements.
2. Time & Motion Study
- Conduct time studies for different operations.
- Measure Standard Minute Value (SMV) for production processes.
- Identify delays and inefficiencies in production flow.
- Recommend improved methods to reduce production time.
3. Production Planning Support
- Work with production managers to ensure daily production targets are achievable.
- Analyze production capacity and help plan workloads across assembly lines.
- Assist in developing realistic production schedules.
4. Process Improvement
- Analyze current production processes and recommend improvements.
- Introduce better workflow methods to increase efficiency.
- Reduce idle time, material movement delays, and unnecessary operations.
5. Productivity Monitoring
- Track daily production output for each assembly line.
- Calculate line efficiency, operator productivity, and downtime.
- Prepare reports highlighting areas needing improvement.
6. Cost & Waste Reduction
- Identify areas where material wastage or excessive labor time occurs.
- Suggest improvements to reduce waste and operational costs.
- Improve material utilization in production processes.
7. Training & Process Standardization
- Train supervisors and line leaders on efficient working methods.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production operations.
- Support implementation of productivity improvement initiatives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Industrial Engineer will be evaluated based on:
- Assembly line efficiency improvement
- Production output per worker
- Reduction in production bottlenecks
- Reduction in idle time and downtime
- Improvement in workflow and line balance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering / Production Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience in footwear manufacturing or similar production environments preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years experience in industrial engineering or production process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in time study, line balancing, and productivity improvement is highly desirable.
Skills Required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to analyze production data and recommend improvements
- Good communication skills for working with production teams
- Basic knowledge of spreadsheets and production tracking tools
Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates with experience in footwear, apparel, leather goods, or assembly-line manufacturing industries will be preferred.
