Job Summary
The Purchase Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, components, and consumables required for manufacturing. The role ensures timely procurement, cost optimization, quality compliance, and strong supplier relationships to support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials, electrical components, mechanical parts, batteries, motors, controllers, and other manufacturing materials.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage vendors to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and timely delivery.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and annual rate contracts with suppliers.
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) based on production planning and material requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, and Finance departments for procurement activities.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimum stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Track supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
- Resolve supplier issues related to delays, shortages, quality concerns, and warranty claims.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, quotations, and purchase documentation.
- Conduct market research to identify alternate suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and applicable statutory requirements.
- Prepare monthly procurement reports, MIS, and cost analysis for management review.
Required Skills
- Strong hands on experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Management
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Knowledge of inventory management and material planning.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or Commerce.
Preferred Experience
- 4–5 years of procurement experience in Manufacturing company.
