Job Summary
The Plant Employee Bus Transport Fleet Operation Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient operation of employee transportation services. The role involves managing bus schedules, supervising drivers, ensuring vehicle roadworthiness, monitoring preventive maintenance, maintaining transport documentation, controlling fuel consumption, and ensuring compliance with statutory transport regulations and company safety policies. The incumbent plays a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted employee transportation while optimizing fleet utilization and operational efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Operations Management
- Prepare daily employee bus deployment plans and route schedules based on shift requirements.
- Monitor fleet availability and ensure on-time dispatch and arrival of buses.
- Optimize vehicle utilization to improve operational efficiency.
- Arrange replacement vehicles during breakdowns or emergencies.
Driver Management
- Supervise and allocate duties to bus drivers.
- Verify driver attendance and maintain daily attendance records.
- Conduct pre-duty fitness checks to ensure drivers are free from alcohol, tobacco, or any substance affecting safe driving.
- Verify driving licenses, badges, and statutory compliance documents.
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure buses are mechanically fit and compliant before deployment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair activities with workshops and authorized service centers.
- Monitor vehicle fitness certificates, insurance, permits, pollution certificates, and maintenance schedules.
Fuel & Transport Documentation
- Maintain daily fuel (Diesel/CNG) consumption records.
- Verify mileage and fuel efficiency.
- Prepare vehicle log sheets, trip sheets, and transport MIS reports.
- Monitor operational costs and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Motor Vehicle Act, road safety regulations, and company transport policies.
- Conduct driver safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Investigate transport incidents, accidents, and near-miss events.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve transport safety.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with HR, Administration, Security, Plant Operations, and Workshops regarding transportation requirements.
- Handle transport-related employee grievances.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly fleet performance reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in transport operations.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Logistics, Transport Management, or equivalent.
- Valid knowledge of transport operations and fleet management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and fleet management software.
Experience
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in employee transportation, fleet operations, logistics, bus operations, or industrial transport management.
- Experience in manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, mining, infrastructure, or construction sectors is preferred.
