Job Summary
The Field Services Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Smiths Detection equipment at customer sites. This role ensures optimal performance of security screening systems such as X-ray scanners, explosive trace detectors (ETD), and other detection technologies, while maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities1. Installation & Commissioning
- Install and commission Smiths Detection equipment at client premises.
- Ensure systems are configured as per technical specifications and client requirements.
- Conduct functional testing and system validation after installation.
2. Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on X-ray scanners, ETDs, and other security systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Replace faulty components and ensure equipment operates efficiently.
3. Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
- Identify root causes of technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain proper documentation of fault reports and resolutions.
4. Customer Interaction
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service.
- Provide basic training to operators on equipment usage and safety.
5. Compliance & Safety
- Follow all company safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards.
- Ensure adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines.
- Maintain proper documentation as per audit and compliance requirements.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain service reports, maintenance logs, and site visit records.
- Update service management systems with job status and technical details.
- Assist in preparing technical reports and service-related documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma / Bachelor’s in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field
- Experience: 1–5 years in field service, preferably in:
- Security systems
- X-ray machines
- Industrial equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Basic knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, and networking
- Ability to read technical manuals and circuit diagrams
- Good communication and customer-handling skills
- Willingness to travel frequently and work at multiple sites
Preferred Skills
- Experience in airport security systems or scanning equipment
- Knowledge of radiation safety (for X-ray systems)
- Familiarity with PLC, sensors, and embedded systems
- Experience with maintenance management systems
Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
