The group is focused on building scalable, professionally-run businesses across its portfolio, with an emphasis on operational excellence, sustainable growth, and strong governance across all entities.
Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and versatile General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, drive strategic growth, and ensure operational and financial discipline across Arvizon's business verticals. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Directors, ideal for someone who has managed multi-business or multi-vertical operations and is comfortable working across distinct industries simultaneously.
The GM will act as the operational backbone of the group, translating the Directors' vision into executable plans, building strong teams within each business unit, and ensuring each vertical (Urjapoint and Shaadi Mangalam) runs efficiently while contributing to the group's overall growth targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Business Leadership
- Drive overall business strategy and annual operating plans across all group verticals, in alignment with the Directors/Board.
- Identify growth opportunities, new markets, and partnerships for both Urjapoint and Shaadi Mangalam.
- Represent the group in key external engagements: vendors, partners, investors, and regulatory bodies.
Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end operations across business units, ensuring smooth daily functioning of both Urjapoint and Shaadi Mangalam.
- Establish and monitor SOPs, KPIs, and performance dashboards for each vertical.
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, ensuring consistent service/product delivery standards.
Financial Oversight
- Own P&L responsibility across the group's business units; monitor budgets, costs, and revenue targets.
- Work closely with finance/accounts teams to ensure accurate reporting, cash flow management, and cost control.
- Present periodic performance reports (monthly/quarterly) to the Directors with clear insights and corrective action plans.
Team & People Management
- Build, lead, and mentor teams across both verticals, including vertical/unit heads and functional managers.
- Drive a strong performance culture: set goals, conduct reviews, and support professional development.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and retention strategy in coordination with HR.
Cross-Vertical Coordination
- Ensure alignment and resource sharing efficiency between Urjapoint and Shaadi Mangalam where applicable (e.g., shared backoffice functions, finance, HR, admin).
- Standardize best practices, reporting formats, and governance processes across the group.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all business units comply with relevant regulatory, statutory, and legal requirements specific to their sectors.
- Identify operational and business risks and implement mitigation plans.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 8–12 years of overall experience, with at least 3–5 years in a General Manager, COO, or senior business-head role.
- Prior experience managing multiple business units or diverse verticals simultaneously is strongly preferred.
- Experience in any of the following sectors is a plus: energy/renewables, services/consumer businesses, or matrimonial/event-based businesses though direct sector experience is not mandatory given the cross-functional nature of this role.
- Demonstrated track record of P&L ownership and driving measurable business growth.
- Strong people-management experience, having led teams of significant size across functions.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to context-switch across different business models.
- Excellent financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, P&L management.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Superior communication and stakeholder management skills (Directors, vendors, clients, regulators).
- High ownership mindset, comfortable operating with autonomy in a growing organization.
- Problem-solving orientation with hands-on willingness to get into operational details when needed.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience and industry standards; open to discussion based on candidate profile.
