Infrastructure Engineering Senior Advisor
Job Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on IBM Connect:Direct Engineer to support enterprise Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms across Windows and UNIX environments. This role requires strong expertise in Connect:Direct administration, security (Secure Plus), and partner connectivity. Experience with Mainframe (z/OS) and AS400 / IBM i is a plus. Exposure to Sterling B2B Integrator, AWS, automation, monitoring, and scripting tools is highly desirable.
Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and support IBM Connect:Direct on Windows and UNIX
Manage NETMAP, including local and remote node setup
Configure and maintain user proxy definitions
Administer functional authorities (user and group access controls)
Configure and support Connect:Direct Secure Plus (encryption, certificates, secure sessions)
Troubleshoot file transfer issues, connectivity problems, and process failures
Support Sterling B2B Integrator environments, including Connect:Direct Server Adapter (CDSA), CD nodes, and Netmap/Xref setup
Participate in production support including incident, change, and problem management
Work within ITIL-based processes using ServiceNow or similar tools
Provide support in shift-based and on-call environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud, storage, network, and security teams for integrations, issue resolution, and platform changes
Required Skills and Experience
13-16 years of experience is required
Strong hands-on experience with IBM Connect:Direct on Windows and UNIX
Expertise in installation, upgrades, and administration of Connect:Direct
Experience with NETMAP configuration, node management, and proxy setup
Strong knowledge of functional authorities and access control management
Hands-on experience with Connect:Direct Secure Plus (mandatory)
Good understanding of secure file transfer and encryption concepts
Working knowledge of Sterling B2B, including CD node setup and CDSA
Experience supporting production environments and critical systems
Willingness to work in rotational shifts
Hands-on experience with Sterling Control Center Monitor and Director, including administration of Connect:Direct (Netmap, user authorization, configuration management)
Hands-on experience with Connect:Direct Web Services / APIs for automation and integration
Qualifications
Strong collaboration skills with ability to work across cloud, storage, network, and platform engineering teams
Exposure to Mainframe (z/OS) Connect:Direct
Experience with AS400 / IBM i environments
Knowledge of AWS services including networking, S3, IAM, and policies
Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible
Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace
Scripting experience in UNIX shell, PowerShell, or Windows scripting
Understanding of enterprise middleware and MFT ecosystems
Understanding of container orchestration concepts (containers, pods, deployments, scaling, and hybrid/cloud environments)
