Precision Finishing: Smooth, contour, and polish die surfaces using hand
tools like scrapers, files, abrasive stones, and power grinders.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and analyse engineering drawings, sketches,
and manual specifications to understand the exact shape and dimensions
required.
Fitting and Assembly: Fit, assemble, and disassemble machined
components into mould or die assemblies, shimming and adjusting as
needed.
Quality Assurance: Verify dimensions, alignments, and tolerances of the
finished die using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometre,
callipers, and gauge blocks).
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Repair and maintain existing dies, report
defects or issues to the production manager, and assist with special
troubleshooting projects.
Machine Operation: Safely operate conventional or CNC machine tools
(such as lathes, mills, and drills) to modify metal blocks.
Core Requirements
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of metalworking, tool geometries, and
machining processes.
Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with both manual shop tools (files, dental burrs,
polishers) and precision measurement equipment.
Physical Dexterity & Vision: Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial
visualization to identify microscopic defects and mould contours.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational
training, apprenticeship, or a relevant certificate in machining or tool-and-die
making.
Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in tool making, mould making,
or die finishing, depending on the complexity of the dies being processed.
