Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our legal team. This internship offers a practical, hands-on opportunity to apply your legal education to real-world scenarios. You will work closely with senior attorneys and legal professionals, gaining exposure to legal research, drafting, case preparation, and day-to-day legal operations.
This role is ideal for a current law student looking to develop substantive legal skills, build a professional network, and understand the practical dynamics of the legal profession.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research on statutory law, case precedents, judicial decisions, and regulatory frameworks. Prepare clear, concise legal memoranda summarizing your findings.
- Document Drafting: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, contracts, legal opinions, disclosure requests, and corporate resolutions.
- Case & Matter Management: Organize and maintain case files, institutional records, and document indexes. Assist in preparing materials for trials, hearings, depositions, or transactional closings.
- Compliance & Monitoring: Track legislative updates, regulatory changes, and relevant legal trends that impact the organization or its clients.
- Administrative Support: Attend internal strategy meetings, client consultations, or court proceedings (where applicable) to take notes and summarize key action items.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Current enrollment in an accredited law degree program (LL.B) Successful completion of first-year foundational courses is preferred.
- Research Skills: Proficiency in legal research databases .
- Writing Excellence: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to draft precise, objective legal analysis.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous proofreading and editing skills, including familiarity with standard legal citation formats (OSCOLA).
- Ethics & Discretion: High level of professional integrity and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding sensitive client and organizational matters.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet strict deadlines, and work independently under supervision.
