About the Role
Embdes Engineering Solutions is looking for an Android Developer with experience in Android HMI, Android Auto, media, audio, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity for automotive platforms. The role involves developing and debugging production-grade Android applications for vehicle cluster and infotainment systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain Android HMI applications for automotive cluster and infotainment systems.
· Design, implement, and debug Android Auto features and connectivity.
· Develop media and audio functionalities using Media3/ExoPlayer, MediaSession, and AudioManager.
· Troubleshoot Bluetooth (A2DP/HFP) and USB connectivity issues.
· Debug application crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, UI lag, audio latency, and performance bottlenecks.
· Work closely with Android Framework, BSP, HAL, QA, UI/UX, and product teams to deliver production-ready features.
· Support vehicle-level validation, field issue analysis, and release activities.
· Write clean, maintainable, and scalable Android code.
Required Skills
· 4–6 years of Android application development using Kotlin and Java.
· Strong understanding of Android lifecycle, Services, Broadcast Receivers, IPC, threading, permissions, and storage.
· Hands-on experience with:
o Media3 / ExoPlayer
o MediaSession
o AudioManager & AudioFocus
o Audio routing
· Experience debugging:
o Bluetooth A2DP/HFP
o USB device/accessory connectivity
o Android Auto
· Strong debugging skills using ADB, Logcat, Dumpsys, Bugreport, Perfetto, and Systrace.
· Experience analyzing crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, UI performance, and audio issues.
· Exposure to embedded Android or custom Android builds.
· Good communication, ownership, and problem-solving skills.
Good to Have
· MediaCodec and MediaRecorder.
· Camera2 API and Camera HAL exposure.
· AOSP or Android Framework development.
· Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
· CAN/Vehicle signal integration.
· Automotive Cluster, Infotainment, or Connected Vehicle domain experience.
· Performance optimization for boot time, CPU, memory, and rendering.
