We're looking for a motivated Freight Broker to source loads, negotiate rates, and manage relationships between shippers and carriers. You'll be responsible for the full life cycle of a shipment from quoting and booking to tracking and closing out each load.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and develop relationships with new shippers and carriers
- Negotiate freight rates and secure competitive pricing for both sides
- Match available loads with qualified, vetted carriers
- Track shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or issues
- Maintain accurate records in the TMS (transportation management system)
- Ensure all carrier documentation (insurance, authority, W-9) is current and compliant
- Build long-term repeat business through reliable service and follow-up
- Coordinate with billing/collections to ensure timely invoicing and payment
Requirements
- Prior experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation sales (1+ years preferred)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Familiarity with load boards (DAT, Truckstop) and TMS software a plus
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- High school diploma required; degree in logistics, supply chain, or business preferred
