Job Description: Production Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Engineer with 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing production processes, ensuring shop-floor efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical troubleshooting skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing workflows, and the ability to effectively supervise shop-floor operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Execution: Day-to-day supervision of production lines to ensure output targets are met safely and efficiently according to the production schedule.
- Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks on the production floor and implement continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing) to reduce waste and cycle time.
- Resource Management: Efficiently allocate manpower, materials, and machinery to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Quality Control: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to monitor product quality, investigate defects, and implement root-cause corrective actions (CAPA).
- Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance of machinery to minimize line stoppages.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily production reports (DPRs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and cycle time data.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all shop-floor activities adhere to company safety protocols, guidelines, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: B.Tech / B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or Production/Industrial Engineering).
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production assembly plant.
- Technical Skills:
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, welding, fabrication, or injection molding, depending on the industry).
- Familiarity with reading engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols.
- Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and exposure to ERP/SAP software is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and team handling/supervisory skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle shift operations.
