The Role
We are looking for a dynamic, digitally-savvy Anchor/Reporter to serve as a key face and voice for Headline8. The ideal candidate will have a sharp editorial instinct, a commanding on-camera presence, and a passion for unpacking complex political and policy developments for a digital audience. You will split your time between the anchor desk and the field, delivering high-impact explanatory journalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Anchoring & Presentation: Host daily news packages, explanatory video segments, and digital-first broadcasts with authority, clarity, and an engaging on-camera presence.
- Field Reporting: Pitch, research, and report on ground-level stories, political developments, and public policy issues across Assam and the wider Northeast region.
- Explanatory Journalism: Break down dense policies, historical context, and political maneuvers into accessible, structured narratives for our audience.
- Scriptwriting & Research: Write sharp, well-researched scripts for video packages and live segments, ensuring absolute factual accuracy and editorial neutrality.
- Interviews & Moderation: Conduct live and pre-recorded interviews with newsmakers, politicians, and subject matter experts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of experience in broadcast or digital news journalism, specifically in anchoring and field reporting.
- Regional Expertise: A deep, nuanced understanding of the political landscape, governance, and public policy issues of Northeast India.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Assamese
- Camera Ready: Proven ability to anchor live news, and improvise during breaking news situations.
