Job Description – Part-Time Optometrist
Hospital: MV Diabetes
Location: Adyar, Chennai
Position: Part-Time Optometrist Timing 9.00am-1.00pm
About the Role
MV Hospital for Diabetes is seeking a qualified and patient-focused Part-Time Optometrist to join our Eye Care Department at our Adyar branch. The ideal candidate should be skilled in comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, and patient counseling while ensuring high-quality clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments.
- Perform refraction and prescribe corrective lenses.
- Diagnose common refractive errors and identify ocular abnormalities.
- Assist ophthalmologists in patient evaluation and pre/post-operative assessments.
- Measure visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and other diagnostic tests.
- Educate patients on eye care, contact lens usage, and spectacle maintenance.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide excellent patient care.
Qualification
- Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) / B.Sc. Optometry
- Registration with the appropriate Optometry Council (if applicable).
Experience
- 0–2 years (Freshers with good clinical knowledge are welcome to apply.)
Skills Required
- Strong refraction and vision testing skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient-centric approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic procedures.
