Job Purpose
To lead and manage the overall operations of the pathology business, ensuring operational excellence, revenue growth, quality compliance, customer satisfaction, cost efficiency, and successful expansion of diagnostic services across laboratories, collection centres, hospitals, clinics, and home collection networks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business & Operations Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of central/reference laboratories, satellite labs, and collection centres.
- Ensure smooth coordination between sample collection, transportation, processing, reporting, billing, and customer service.
- Develop and implement SOPs, operational policies, and performance standards.
- Monitor operational KPIs and take corrective actions for gaps.
2. Revenue & Business Growth
- Drive pathology business revenue, profitability, and growth targets.
- Identify opportunities for new collection centres, hospital tie-ups, corporate accounts, and B2B partnerships.
- Develop strategies to increase test volumes, average billing value, and customer retention.
- Monitor centre-wise profitability and prepare improvement plans for underperforming locations.
3. New Project & Infrastructure Development
- Lead planning and execution of new pathology laboratory and collection-centre projects.
- Coordinate infrastructure, equipment, manpower, IT/LIS, vendors, biomedical requirements, and statutory approvals.
- Prepare project timelines, budgets, resource plans, and operational readiness checklists.
- Ensure timely commissioning and smooth transition from project stage to regular operations.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable pathology, laboratory, biomedical waste, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the Quality team for NABL/NABH and internal quality standards, where applicable.
- Monitor pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes.
- Investigate operational errors, customer complaints, sample rejection, TAT deviations, and CAPA requirements.
5. Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor operations teams across laboratories and collection centres.
- Coordinate with pathologists, laboratory managers, technicians, phlebotomists, customer service, finance, HR, procurement, and IT teams.
- Establish manpower requirements and productivity benchmarks.
- Conduct performance reviews and develop training plans.
6. TAT & Operational Excellence
- Monitor test-wise and centre-wise Turnaround Time (TAT).
- Reduce sample rejection, repeat testing, delays, wastage, and operational bottlenecks.
- Improve workflow, manpower utilization, equipment utilization, and sample logistics.
- Implement Lean/continuous-improvement initiatives wherever appropriate.
7. Vendor & Cost Management
- Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, reagent vendors, logistics partners, facility vendors, and other service providers.
- Monitor procurement, inventory, reagent consumption, and wastage.
- Control operational costs without compromising quality.
- Support negotiations and vendor performance evaluations.
8. MIS & Performance Reporting
- Prepare regular MIS and dashboards covering:
- Revenue & test volumes
- Centre-wise performance
- TAT
- Sample rejection
- Productivity
- Customer complaints
- Inventory & wastage
- EBITDA / profitability
- Manpower utilization
- Present operational and business reviews to senior management.

- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration, Life Sciences, Pathology, or related field.
- MBA/PGDM in Healthcare/Hospital Management or Business Administration preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pathology laboratory operations and diagnostic business processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile
A senior pathology/diagnostics professional who can act as the bridge between business strategy and ground-level execution, with the ability to manage existing operations while simultaneously driving new centre development, infrastructure projects, revenue growth, quality, and profitability.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
