Job Descriptions of Pre -Delivery Inspection (PDI Incharge)-
A Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) in the auto industry is the final quality check before handing a car to a buyer. The PDI technician inspects fluid levels, tests electronics, and road-tests the vehicle. Their main goal is to find and fix hidden defects before the customer takes the car.
- Mechanical & Fluid Checks: Check engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and washer fluid. Make sure they are at safe levels.
- Electrical Testing: Test lights, air conditioning, power windows, and the infotainment system to make sure they all work.
- Software Diagnostics: Connect tools to the car's computer to find hidden software errors or sensor faults.
- Road Test: Drive the car for a short distance to test braking distance, steering, and suspension.
- Aesthetic Inspection: Look for paint scratches, dents, or loose trim pieces.
- Documentation: Fill out a PDI checklist completely and sign off that the car is safe for the road.
Requirements
- Knowledge: Understanding of auto mechanics, electronics, and modern car parts.
- License: A clean and valid driver's license.
- Tools: Experience using shop tools and computer diagnostic scanners.
