Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated Chemistry Teacher to teach students in Grades 11 and 12 under the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Cambridge IGCSE/AS & A Level Curriculum.
The successful candidate will possess strong subject knowledge, laboratory expertise, and a passion for inspiring students to develop scientific inquiry, analytical thinking, and practical problem-solving skills. The teacher will play a key role in preparing students for international examinations, higher education, and future careers in science, engineering, medicine, and related fields.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic & Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and high-quality Chemistry instruction aligned with IB and Cambridge curriculum requirements.
- Plan, prepare, and implement effective lessons, laboratory activities, and assessments.
- Teach key Chemistry topics including:
- Atomic Structure
- Chemical Bonding
- Stoichiometry
- States of Matter
- Thermochemistry
- Chemical Energetics
- Kinetics
- Equilibrium
- Acids and Bases
- Redox Reactions
- Organic Chemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
- Environmental Chemistry
- Industrial Chemistry
- Develop students' theoretical understanding and practical laboratory skills.
- Encourage scientific investigation through experimentation and inquiry-based learning.
- Integrate technology and modern teaching tools into classroom instruction.
IB & IGCSE Curriculum ResponsibilitiesIB Diploma Programme (DP)
- Teach IB Chemistry at Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL).
- Guide students through Internal Assessments (IA), laboratory research projects, and scientific investigations.
- Support students in data collection, analysis, scientific writing, and experimental design.
- Prepare students for external examinations and assessments.
Cambridge IGCSE / AS & A Level
- Deliver Chemistry instruction according to Cambridge syllabus requirements.
- Prepare students for IGCSE, AS, and A Level theoretical and practical examinations.
- Conduct revision programs, laboratory practicals, and mock examinations.
- Monitor student performance and implement targeted interventions when required.
Laboratory Management & Safety
- Supervise laboratory practicals and scientific investigations.
- Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and inventory records.
- Organize laboratory resources to effectively support curriculum delivery.
- Promote safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemical substances.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Evaluate laboratory reports, assignments, projects, presentations, and examinations.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Track academic progress and prepare detailed progress reports.
- Utilize assessment data to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
Student Development & Mentorship
- Foster scientific curiosity and independent learning.
- Mentor students pursuing higher education and careers in science-related fields.
- Encourage participation in science fairs, Olympiads, STEM competitions, and research activities.
- Support students in university application and academic pathway planning.
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student performance.
Curriculum Development
- Participate in curriculum review, planning, and improvement initiatives.
- Develop innovative laboratory activities and teaching resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary STEM projects.
- Stay current with advancements in Chemistry, scientific research, and educational practices.
- Contribute to departmental and institutional academic development goals.
School & Professional Responsibilities
- Attend faculty meetings, workshops, training sessions, and academic planning meetings.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Support extracurricular science activities and student enrichment programs.
- Uphold school policies, safeguarding protocols, and professional standards.

QualificationsEssential Requirements
- Master's Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, or a related field.
- Bachelor's Degree with a recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, Teaching License, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience teaching Chemistry at the secondary or higher secondary level.
- Experience teaching IB Diploma Programme and/or Cambridge IGCSE/AS & A Level Chemistry.
- Strong laboratory and practical teaching experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- IB-certified training in Chemistry.
- Experience teaching in international schools.
- Cambridge International assessment experience.
- Experience in online and blended learning environments.
- Research, industrial, or laboratory experience in Chemistry is an added advantage.
