Role overview
This is a hands-on, high-accountability role for someone who can bridge deep technical audit knowledge with strong client communication. The Audit Manager will supervise article assistants, drive technical and peer review (PR) processes, and serve as the primary point of contact for client queries. This role is suited for a CA with practical audit experience who thrives in a firm environment and is ready to take ownership without hand-holding.
Key responsibilities
Technical & Audit
- Plan, execute, and finalize statutory, tax, and internal audit engagements
- Lead technical review of audit files – ensure compliance with SA standards and ICAI guidelines
- Conduct peer reviews (PR) of audit documentation and financial statements before partner sign-off
- Identify audit issues, prepare management letters, and follow up on action taken reports
- Review working papers prepared by article assistants and provide structured feedback
- Stay current on Ind AS, SAs, Companies Act, Income Tax Act updates affecting audit practice
- Prepare CARO reports, Board Reports references, and audit trail documentation
Client & Team Management
- Serve as the primary client-facing point of contact for assigned engagements
- Discuss audit findings, observations, and qualifications directly with client CFOs/Directors
- Manage timelines, coordinate with client teams for data and information requests
- Train, guide, and review the work of article assistants on a daily basis
- Prepare and present engagement-level MIS/status reports to the Partner
- Support partner in proposal decks, new client onboarding, and engagement letters
- Handle client escalations with professionalism and tact
- Oversee audit assistants in addition to articles
Requirements
- Qualified CA
- 2–5 years of post-qualification experience in a CA firm audit practice
- Hands-on experience in statutory audit and tax audit
- Strong working knowledge of Standards on Auditing (SAs) and Ind AS
- Experience conducting or being part of peer reviews
- Direct client communication experience – able to hold independent meetings
- Proficiency in Tally, Excel, and audit software (e.g. CaseWare, TeamMate or equivalent)
- Oracel/SAP/MS 360 etc
Good to have
- Experience managing a team of 3+ article assistants
- Exposure to internal audit or concurrent audit engagements
- Working knowledge of GST and direct tax provisions affecting audit
- Experience with UDIN generation and Form 3CA/3CD filings
- Familiarity with Companies Act 2013 reporting requirements
- CISA certification (bonus for IT audit mandates)
Pay: Up to ₹1,700,000.00 per year
