Job Title: South Indian Chef

Job Summary:
Responsible for preparing authentic South Indian cuisine while maintaining consistent taste, quality, presentation, hygiene, and food safety standards. The chef should have strong knowledge of traditional South Indian recipes and be capable of managing kitchen operations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare authentic South Indian dishes including Idli, Dosa, Vada, Pongal, Sambar, Rasam, Upma, Biryanis, Curries, Kootu, Poriyal, and other regional specialties.
- Ensure consistent taste, portion size, presentation, and food quality.
- Prepare chutneys, masalas, gravies, batters, and other kitchen preparations.
- Manage daily wise in place and ensure timely preparation of food.
- Monitor freshness and quality of ingredients.
- Follow standard recipes, food-cost controls, and portion-control procedures.
- Maintain proper hygiene, cleanliness, and food-safety standards.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items and ingredients.
- Minimize food wastage and control kitchen costs.
- Coordinate with kitchen team members to ensure smooth service.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, and storage areas.
- Assist in menu planning and development of new South Indian dishes.
- Train and guide Commis Chefs and kitchen assistants when required.
- Ensure food is prepared and served within the required quality and service standards.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a South Indian Chef or similar kitchen role.
- Strong knowledge of South Indian cuisine and cooking techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
