Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead the Press Shop operations, specializing in sheet metal and press machine processes for electrical components used in railway applications. The role involves managing production, tooling, quality compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet strict railway standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee press shop operations including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic press machines
- Manage production of sheet metal components, enclosures, brackets, and panels
- Plan and execute daily/weekly production schedules to meet delivery targets
- Ensure adherence to railway quality standards and customer specifications
- Monitor die performance, tool life, and maintenance schedules
- Coordinate with tool room for die development, modification, and troubleshooting
- Optimize machine utilization, cycle time, and productivity
- Analyze rejection, rework, and scrap, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure raw material utilization and cost control
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives
- Collaborate with design, quality, PPC, and procurement teams
- Ensure safety compliance and safe machine operations
- Train and manage shop floor manpower and supervisors
Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in press shop operations and sheet metal manufacturing
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and power press machines
- Experience in die maintenance, tool setting, and press operations
- Understanding of production planning and process optimization
- Familiarity with quality standards and inspection techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8–12 years of experience in press shop / sheet metal manufacturing
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in railway or heavy engineering manufacturing
- Knowledge of ISO standards and quality systems
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Exposure to Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing tools.
