Role Overview
This is the most senior engineering hire in Lumenairi Labs and the cornerstone of the platform. You will own the backend API layer that powers both the React Native mobile app and the admin dashboard, the multi-tenant data model in MongoDB Atlas, and the AWS infrastructure that runs everything. You will set up CI/CD, manage our third-party integrations (Twilio, SendGrid, Google services, OpenAI, Anthropic), and operate the systems you build.
We are transitioning from a monolithic, single-client architecture (currently serving O'Reilly Auto Parts) to a true multi-tenant SaaS by end of Q2 2026. You will lead that transition technically. After the transition, you will continue to own the platform's performance, scalability, and reliability as we onboard additional enterprise and Jewish-story vertical clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build the API layer that serves both the React Native mobile app and the Lumenairi Core admin dashboard.
- Implement and evolve multi-tenant data models in MongoDB Atlas: schema design, indexing strategy, query performance, and tenant isolation patterns.
- Own the AWS environment end-to-end: S3 for media storage, IAM for tenant-scoped access control, CloudFront for content delivery, Lambda for serverless functions, and supporting services as needed.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for backend services. Establish deployment hygiene, rollback procedures, and environment parity (dev/staging/production).
- Manage third-party integrations: Twilio (SMS/OTP), SendGrid (email), Google services (translation, language tools), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI features). Own the cost, reliability, and fallback strategy for each.
- Lead the migration from the current single-tenant architecture to multi-tenant by end of Q2 2026, including data migration planning, tenant onboarding flows, and per-tenant configuration.
- Partner with the Mobile and Frontend engineers on API contracts. Partner with the Media and AI engineers on async workflow boundaries.
- Contribute to SOC 2 and GDPR readiness as Lumenairi prepares for enterprise sales (encryption at rest and in transit, access logging, audit trails, data residency).
