About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Ocean Freight Executive to manage export and import ocean freight operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of shipping procedures, carrier coordination, documentation, customer service, and operational execution to ensure smooth movement of cargo across international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle end-to-end ocean freight export and import shipments.
- Coordinate with shipping lines, overseas agents, transporters, CHA, and customers.
- Obtain freight rates and vessel schedules from shipping lines and NVOCCs.
- Book shipments with carriers and monitor cargo movement until final delivery.
- Prepare and verify shipping documents including:
- Bill of Lading (BL)
- Shipping Bill
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Certificate of Origin
- Delivery Orders
- Track vessel schedules and update customers regarding shipment status.
- Coordinate stuffing, transportation, customs clearance, and cargo delivery.
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and customer requirements.
- Resolve operational issues, delays, rollovers, detention, and demurrage matters.
- Maintain shipment records and operational reports.
- Work closely with sales and procurement teams to ensure service excellence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines and logistics partners.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ocean freight operations.
- Strong understanding of FCL, LCL, export and import procedures.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, shipping documentation, and customs processes.
- Experience working with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and overseas agents.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and freight management systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet shipment deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience handling shipments with major carriers such as MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, Maersk, CMA CGM, and Hapag-Lloyd.
- Knowledge of special cargo, project cargo, or reefer shipments will be an added advantage.
- Experience in freight forwarding or NVOCC operations preferred.
