HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR - JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Daily Supervision of Cleaning Tasks
- Supervise daily cleaning activities in all areas, including guest rooms, lobbies, corridors, conference halls, washrooms, dining areas, staircases, and other public spaces.
- Ensure all areas are clean, well-maintained, and presentable throughout the day.
- Assign and oversee maids, room boys, and housekeepers to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
2. Guest Room & Common Area Maintenance
- Obtain the daily room occupancy list from the Front Desk and organize cleaning accordingly.
- Ensure all guest rooms are cleaned and maintained as per standards, including:
- Change of bed linen and towels
- Dusting furniture and fixtures
- Sweeping and swabbing of floors
- Cleaning wash basins, mirrors, and bathroom fittings
- Clearing dustbins and replacing liners
- Cleaning water jugs and glasses and refilling with fresh drinking water
- Placing amenities such as soap, toilet rolls, laundry bags, and mosquito mats
- Checking all electrical fittings, lights, and plumbing connections for functionality
- Inspect check-out rooms to ensure readiness for the next guest.
- Conduct random checks on rooms prepared by staff to maintain quality standards.
3. Public Area & Maintenance Coordination
- Inspect and ensure cleanliness of public areas such as conference halls, lobbies, dining halls, toilets, staircases, and terraces.
- Coordinate with the Front Office for cleaning schedules of check-out rooms.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Department to log and resolve maintenance complaints promptly.
- Enter all complaints in the Maintenance Complaint Register and follow up on completion.
- Ensure open terraces are clean, free from clutter or rubbish, and report any water stagnation immediately to the B&M Department.
4. Linen & Supply Management
- Maintain control over all linen and housekeeping supplies, ensuring they are properly stocked, issued, and replenished.
- Oversee linen rooms in all sections, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and security when not in use.
- Conduct random checks and periodic stock verification of linen and cleaning supplies.
- Monitor linen sent to laundry, track returns, and report any discrepancies to the Manager.
- Project requirements for new linen, upholstery, or replacements as needed.
- Oversee cleaning equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and used correctly by staff.
- Supervise deep-cleaning schedules and review completion records.
5. Staff Supervision & Task Management
- Prepare and assign daily and shift-wise cleaning duties for housekeepers, maids, and room boys.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed on schedule and as per IGH standards.
- Train and guide staff on cleaning methods, safety procedures, and use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Conduct spot checks of completed rooms and public areas to verify quality.
- Evaluate staff performance periodically and submit reports on above-average, average, or below-average performers to the Manager.
- Handle guest complaints related to housekeeping promptly and professionally.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain discipline and efficiency within the housekeeping team.
6. Records & Reporting
Maintain the following registers and ensure they are updated accurately:
- Guest Room Cleaning Register
- Maintenance Complaint Register
- Night Room Boy Log Register
- Deep Cleaning / Thorough Cleaning Record
- Linen & Supply Register
- Housekeeping Log Book – to record daily tasks, special notes, and follow-ups
- WIN HMS Updates – supervise data entries to ensure prompt and accurate record-keeping
Review the B&M Log Book regularly and ensure proper follow-up on all pending issues.
7. Quality Control & Facility Management
- Review Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) and supervise the work carried out by contractors.
- Inspect equipment, furnishings, and fixtures periodically and report damages immediately.
- Ensure safety and hygiene standards are consistently maintained across all housekeeping operations.
- Recommend improvements in facilities or procedures to the Manager.
- Ensure records and systems maintained by other housekeeping personnel are up to date and meet the standards of IGH.
8. General Duties
- Perform periodic inspections of the entire building and report items needing immediate attention (e.g., burnt-out lights, stained carpets, leaks, or wall marks).
- Cooperate with auditors, inspectors, or management members during physical inspections or stock verifications.
- Complete special assignments or additional tasks assigned by the Manager promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain overall cleanliness, order, and hygiene throughout the Guest House.
- Uphold and enforce all standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to housekeeping.
9. Reporting & Accountability
- Report all damaged equipment, shortages, or persistent issues to the Manager immediately.
- Submit periodic performance summaries of staff under supervision.
- Ensure smooth shift handover and communication across all sections.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive work environment within the team.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
