We focus on combining functionality with modern aesthetics and efficient manufacturing. We are looking for a skilled CAD Pattern Designer who can transform product concepts into production-ready patterns, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented CAD Pattern Designer with knowledge of bag construction and product development. The candidate will be responsible for creating accurate CAD patterns, panel sets, fabric consumption calculations, and technical documentation for backpacks and lifestyle bags.
The ideal candidate should understand the complete development process from concept → pattern → sampling → production.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Pattern Development
- Create accurate CAD patterns for backpacks, tote bags, travel bags, and utility products
- Develop complete panel sets including:
- Front & back panels
- Side panels / gussets
- Bottom panels
- Pockets & compartments
- Straps and handles
- Flaps and additional components
- Add seam allowance, notches, markings, and production details
- Modify patterns based on sample feedback
Fabric Consumption & Cutting Planning
- Calculate fabric consumption for different materials:
- Main fabric
- Lining
- Foam/padding
- Mesh
- Webbing & accessories
- Prepare cutting layouts and optimize fabric usage
- Create panel-wise consumption sheets and production references
Technical Documentation
- Prepare technical drawings and product specifications
- Create panel breakdown graphics and construction details
- Maintain CAD files, measurements, and product development records
- Support sampling and manufacturing teams with technical inputs
Product Development Support
- Coordinate with designers, vendors, and production teams
- Ensure designs are practical for manufacturing
- Suggest improvements in construction, material usage, and production feasibility
Required Skills
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD / Illustrator / CorelDRAW / Lectra / Gerber or similar)
- Knowledge of backpack, handbag, luggage, or soft goods pattern making
- Understanding of:
- Bag construction
- Stitching process
- Fabric behavior
- Cutting methods
- Trims & accessories
- Ability to create production-ready patterns and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in the backpack, bag, footwear, apparel, or accessories industry
- Experience preparing tech packs and working with manufacturers
- Knowledge of sampling and production processes
Qualification
Diploma/Degree in Fashion Technology, CAD Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
