We are seeking a skilled GIS Expert / GIS Developer responsible for geospatial architecture, spatial data modeling, and GIS server configuration. The role ensures that spatial data is accurately processed, published, optimized, and visualized within the GIS environment and enterprise platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage GIS data models and spatial databases
- Configure, deploy, and maintain GIS servers such as GeoServer and MapServer
- Publish and manage WMS, WFS, and WMTS services
- Optimize map layer performance, rendering, and scalability
- Collaborate with backend developers on spatial queries and GIS APIs
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of geospatial data
- Support integration with frontend GIS libraries such as Leaflet and OpenLayers
- Establish best practices for GIS data governance, versioning, and documentation
- Troubleshoot GIS platform and map performance issues
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience working with GIS systems and spatial datasets
- Hands-on expertise with GeoServer and/or MapServer
- Proficiency in PostGIS and spatial database management
- Experience with WMS, WFS, and WMTS standards
- Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial transformations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve GIS performance and rendering issues
- Familiarity with spatial APIs and geospatial architecture concepts
Nice to Have
- Experience with Leaflet or OpenLayers
- Knowledge of spatial analytics and geospatial visualization
- Exposure to large-scale geospatial datasets and enterprise GIS environments
- Understanding of GIS integration with web applications and cloud platforms
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or a related field
- Relevant GIS certifications are an added advantage
