Job Summary
The Pre-Primary Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for children aged 2.5 to 6 years. The teacher plans and implements age-appropriate activities that promote children's cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and language development while fostering curiosity and a love for learning.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, play-based lessons aligned with the school's curriculum.
- Develop children's literacy, numeracy, language, motor, and social skills.
- Use creative teaching methods including storytelling, music, art, games, and hands-on activities.
- Encourage independent learning and positive classroom participation.
- Assess students' learning and maintain individual progress records.
Classroom Management
- Create a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Maintain discipline using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Organize learning materials, displays, and activity corners.
- Ensure child safety and supervise students during all school activities.
Student Development
- Identify individual learning needs and provide appropriate support.
- Encourage emotional well-being, confidence, and good manners.
- Foster inclusive practices that support diverse learning abilities.
Parent Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Attend parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Address parent concerns professionally and collaboratively.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans and teaching aids.
- Maintain attendance, assessment records, and portfolios.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
- Support school events, celebrations, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.
- Diploma/Certification in Nursery Teacher Training (NTT), Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE), Montessori, or equivalent (preferred).
- Fluency in English; knowledge of regional languages is an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of teaching experience in a pre-primary or early childhood setting.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications and a passion for teaching may also apply.
