Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cutting Incharge who possesses strong technical expertise in cutting room operations along with a solid understanding of garment merchandising workflows.
In this role, you will lead end-to-end cutting operations while seamlessly coordinating with the merchandising, sampling, and production teams. Your dual knowledge will ensure accurate fabric consumption, optimal lay planning, minimal fabric wastage, and strict adherence to shipment schedules and buyer specifications.
Key Responsibilities1. Cutting Room Operations & Management
- Oversee day-to-day cutting room functions, including fabric inspection, spreading, lay planning, marking, cutting, bundling, and numbering.
- Ensure maximum fabric utilization and minimal end-bit/cut-piece wastage through precise marker planning and ratio management.
- Inspect cut parts for quality, shade variations, defects, and accurate pattern alignment before dispatching to the sewing lines.
- Maintain cutting logs, daily production reports, and fabric consumption sheets.
2. Merchandising Coordination & Alignment
- Liaise directly with Merchandisers to review Time & Action (T&A) calendars, order sheets, Bill of Materials (BOM), and buyer tech packs.
- Understand style specs, fabric approvals, shrinkages, GSM variations, and special washing/treatment allowances communicated by the merchandising team.
- Provide real-time cutting status updates to merchandisers to keep production timelines transparent and on track for shipment.
- Raise immediate flags regarding fabric shortfalls, defect rates, or panel damages so merchandisers can request additional fabric or adjust buyer delivery schedules.
3. Team Leadership & Quality Control
- Manage and supervise spreaders, cutter operators, helpers, and quality checkers in the cutting department.
- Enforce strict quality control (QC) standards for cut panels according to buyer-specific guidelines.
- Maintain machine safety standards and ensure routine maintenance of cutting equipment (straight knives, band saws, CAD/CAM machines).
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in garment cutting management with exposure to merchandising/order coordination.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of fabric types (knits, wovens, blends, GSM, grainlines, and patterns).
- Proficiency in manual and CAD/CAM marker planning to optimize fabric yields.
- Clear understanding of merchandising terminology (Tech Packs, BOM, T&A, proto/PP samples, buyer approvals).
- Skills: Strong analytical ability, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Education: High school diploma, Diploma in Textile/Garment Technology, or a degree in Fashion Manufacturing/Merchandising preferred.
- Software: Basic knowledge of MS Excel, ERP software, and pattern-making/CAD tools is a plus.
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
