About Us
Agarwal Steel Enterprises is an authorised dealer for JSW, SAIL, and JSPL, serving the steel and infrastructure sector since 1988. We operate a Cut-to-Length (CTL) line and 6kW laser cutting facility at Vichoor, and are part of the Agarwal Group, which includes Tirumalai Steels and I ARQ Solutions. We're looking for a detail-oriented accountant to manage day-to-day finance and compliance in a high-volume, high-value steel trading business.
The Role
You'll handle the full accounting cycle — billing, payables, receivables, reconciliations, and statutory compliance — in a business where invoices are large, credit cycles matter, and accuracy is non-negotiable. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day accounts in Tally Prime / Tally ERP — sales, purchases, journal entries, ledgers
- Generate GST-compliant invoices, e-invoices, and e-way bills (critical for steel dispatch)
- File GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and reconcile GSTR-2B; handle GST queries
- Manage TDS and TCS (including TCS on steel/scrap sales) — deduction, payment, and return filing
- Handle accounts payable and receivable; track customer credit limits, outstanding, and collections
- Perform daily/monthly bank reconciliations and vendor/customer ledger reconciliations
- Maintain inventory accounting and reconcile stock with physical records (CTL line, coils, plates)
- Process payments, manage petty cash, and handle banking transactions
- Prepare monthly MIS, debtor/creditor ageing, and basic financial reports for management
- Support statutory and internal audits; coordinate with the CA / auditors
- Maintain organised records for all statutory and financial documentation
Requirements
- B.Com / M.Com (CA Inter, CMA Inter, or pursuing is a plus)
- 3–6 years of accounting experience, ideally in a trading or manufacturing firm
- Strong working knowledge of Tally Prime, GST, TDS/TCS, and e-invoicing/e-way bill systems
- Solid grasp of accounting fundamentals, reconciliations, and statutory compliance
- Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
- High accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
- Fluent in Tamil and English; Hindi a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience in the steel, metals, or building-materials industry
- Familiarity with high-value B2B invoicing and credit management
- Exposure to multi-entity / group accounting
