Job Purpose
The Store Incharge will be responsible for the efficient management, maintenance, and accounting of all inventory, equipment, and consumables across various engineering departments, workshops, science labs, and administrative offices. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless supply chain operations to support uninterrupted academic and research activities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Inventory & Stock Management:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, technical equipment, tools, and consumables against purchase orders and invoices.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date digital and physical ledgers/registers for all assets (Capital Goods, Consumables, and Semi-consumables).
- Organize the store layout systematically (department-wise, e.g., Mechanical, CSE, ECE, Civil) for easy tracking and retrieval.
- Procurement Support:
- Collate periodic material requisitions from Head of Departments (HoDs), lab technicians, and administrative staff.
- Coordinate with the purchasing department/vendors to track delivery timelines and resolve discrepancies.
- Issue & Distribution:
- Issue materials and equipment to various departments and labs strictly based on authorized requisition slips.
- Manage the gate-pass system for items moving out of the campus for repairs or servicing.
- Auditing & Compliance:
- Conduct regular physical stock verification and annual audits.
- Identify and report surplus, obsolete, or damaged equipment for scrap management or disposal according to institutional policies.
- Safety & Maintenance:
- Ensure proper storage conditions for sensitive items (e.g., electronic components, chemicals, heavy machinery tools).
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and security within the store premises to prevent theft or damage.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Graduate in any discipline (B.Com, B.Sc, or B.A). A Diploma in Material Management, Store Management, or Logistics is highly preferred. A background in a technical field (like an ITI or Polytechic Diploma) is a major plus.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience as a Store Keeper or Store Incharge, preferably within an engineering college, university, or a manufacturing/technical industry.
- Technical Skills: * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel for stock sheets).
- Hands-on experience with ERP software or specialized Inventory/Store Management Software.
- Competencies: * Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with faculty, vendors, and management.
- Honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of accountability.
