Purchase / Sourcing Manager - Job Description
Role Summary:
Own end-to-end procurement execution, vendor management, and cost optimization to ensure
uninterrupted material availability with zero stock-outs and optimal inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute purchase plans from Kanban-based requisitions
- Coordinate with vendors for PIs, order confirmations, and dispatch timelines
- Ensure timely PO creation and on-time delivery (OTIF)
- Maintain safety & buffer stock; prevent stock-outs and excess inventory
- Develop new vendors; eliminate dependency and vendor monopoly
- Drive cost reduction via negotiation, alternate sourcing, and benchmarking
- Perform open costing and identify backward integration opportunities
- Manage cross-functional coordination (Planning, Production, Quality, Finance)
KPIs:
- Zero stock-outs
- OTIF > 95%
- Inventory within norms
- Cost reduction (%)
- Vendor diversification
Skills Required:
- Strong negotiation and vendor management
- Procurement & supply chain expertise
- Costing (open/should-costing preferred)
- High ownership and execution focus
Experience:
4-8 years in procurement/sourcing (manufacturing preferred)
