Responsible for setting and operating cylindrical grinding machines to produce precision components as per drawing specifications. Ensure quality, productivity, and safety standards are maintained during operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate cylindrical grinding machines (OD/ID grinding).
- Interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Select and mount appropriate grinding wheels and tools.
- Perform machine setting including alignment, centering, and dressing of grinding wheels.
- Achieve required tolerances, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct in-process inspection using measuring instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, etc.
- Maintain proper documentation of production and inspection records.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments.
- Follow preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of machines.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and use of PPE.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping in the work area.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of cylindrical grinding operations (OD/ID).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments and quality standards.
- Knowledge of grinding wheel selection and dressing techniques.
- Basic understanding of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Good attention to detail and quality orientation.
- Ability to work in shifts and handle production targets.
Qualification & Experience:
- Education: ITI (Machinist/Turner) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: 2–5 years in cylindrical grinding machine operation and setting
